Due to the fully active internal amplification the Sony Sountina works directly with Blu-ray Disc, DVD, Super Audio CD, CD players and portable players.

The main drive unit in the Sony Sountina is the long, slender organic glass tube. This beautiful piece of glass is energized by several drive devices. The sound is dispersed in full 360 degrees spread along the length of the tube and all around the speaker. This Vertical Drive Technology ensures that less sound is lost with distance, even half as much loss as with conventional speakers.
